IN BENUE: Why The Next TOR TIV Must Be Sworn In Using ‘SWEM’ Just Like Our Forefathers

TOR TIV: A FOOTNOTE

In Local Government Administration as a field of academic inquiry, Traditional Rulers are custodians of Culture.

Culture is the total sum of attitudes, customs, and beliefs that distinguishes one group of people from another. Culture is transmitted, through language, material objects, ritual, institutions, and art, from one generation to the next.

Tradition is is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past.

A Tor Tiv must emerge from the norm and be institutionalize according to Tiv Cosmology – which is Tiv philosophy dealing with the origin and general structure of the universe, with its parts, elements, and laws, and especially with such of its characteristics as space, time as orally passed from generations to generations in this case “Tar” and “Igbetar”.

Any Tor selected outside of this culture, tradition, norms of Tiv cosmology may not be traditional but product and custodian of transnational religions from either Jerusalem or Medina.

I have written on “The next Tor Tiv must not be Partisan”, this is an addendum.
