Lawyers in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Monday took to the streets in protest against what they called the continual disobedience of court orders by the Deprtment of State Services, DSS.
The lawyers, in their thousands and supported by members of the civil society, stormed the Federal High Court Headquarters in Maitama, the Attorney General’s office, National Human Rights Commission.
However, an attempt to march to the seat of power, Aso Rock, was resisted by security agents who prevented them from advancing towards the Three Arms Zone.
The protesting lawyers also insisted that judges must not step down from cases involving the DSS, saying doing so would mean victory for tyranny and intimidation.
The lawyers also called judiciary workers in the country to embark on strike until the DSS obeys all pending orders.
